Back in Vienna

I sometimes find these oversea flights a bit magical, sometimes a bit long, but interesting none the less. The last time I flew back to Vienna from the US was last April and I must have forgotten about how bad jetlag can be. I could be mistaken or maybe I forgot but when we flew back to NYC in August I don't think it the jetlag was this bad Other than that it was a nice feeling coming to Vienna. I am surprised that I felt a warmth, a familiar feeling like home. Monika's parents picked us up from the airport and then we went to eat with them. I also forgot about the super portions you get when you go to eat here at normal Gasthaus. I had one of my favorite dishes from here, Schicken Fleckel. MMMMMMM. The first picture here is out of the plane window when we were about an hour away from Vienna, suddenly the dark sky gave way to daybreak. The following ones are of Museums Quartier, an area with many museums, restaurants, and performing Art spaces. It was the old Royal Horse Stables and now a place where all kinds of Art as well as Artist, students and tourist come to hang or be seen.

Dan the Man

I'm gonna try to post more frequently and I figure with all the photos I've taken that people haven't seen I can post several times a day and not have to shoot new ones for awhile. That doesn't mean I will stop shooting it just means that from time to time I will just put up older photos and post about not so current events. So this is my friend Danny. We go back to our Highschool days and although these days we don't see much of eachother because we have responsibilities that keep us from hanging out, sneaking in to movies, working out, or playing basketball We still talk often on the phone and I have to say we share a morbid humor and understanding of another that I've experienced seldom in life. This photo was from this past August. It was an afternoon game nice and sunny, the yanks won, and Arod had a great day during his late season slump. He almost hit for the cycle.

Flags of Puerto Rico & The United States of America
To celebrate New Year's Eve and Day we went to Puerto Rico for a four day get away. I had an amazing time and a needed rest and relaxation. The last time I was there was in 2004 with Monika my then new girlfriend now wife. I usually don't get very patriotic or wave flags or even think much about heritage and the "pride" aspect of where I am now or where I come from. Don't mistake that I don't acknowledge my backround, am ashamed of it or hide it. I just feel sometimes too much violence, hatred and death has stemmed from patriotism or pride of people's nations etc. That being said, In 2004 and on this past visit I felt a warmth and love for this little island. I felt welcome and very relaxed. I felt a connection with my people. I also felt a similar feeling during our honeymoon when we went to Spain. In both instances as we drove around the mountains and hills and interacted with locals I felt the history and the bond of being Spanish and Puerto Rician. The same way when I returned to the USA after being away for a year I felt at home again in NYC, in the USA. So we were at the Arecibo Observatory and when I saw these flags( I cut the third flag of Nasa out of the picture when ) I thought about my heritage and backround and how flags become great symbols to some. Any way here is the photo with my thoughts.
