Flags of Puerto Rico & The United States of America
To celebrate New Year's Eve and Day we went to Puerto Rico for a four day get away. I had an amazing time and a needed rest and relaxation. The last time I was there was in 2004 with Monika my then new girlfriend now wife. I usually don't get very patriotic or wave flags or even think much about heritage and the "pride" aspect of where I am now or where I come from. Don't mistake that I don't acknowledge my backround, am ashamed of it or hide it. I just feel sometimes too much violence, hatred and death has stemmed from patriotism or pride of people's nations etc. That being said, In 2004 and on this past visit I felt a warmth and love for this little island. I felt welcome and very relaxed. I felt a connection with my people. I also felt a similar feeling during our honeymoon when we went to Spain. In both instances as we drove around the mountains and hills and interacted with locals I felt the history and the bond of being Spanish and Puerto Rician. The same way when I returned to the USA after being away for a year I felt at home again in NYC, in the USA. So we were at the Arecibo Observatory and when I saw these flags( I cut the third flag of Nasa out of the picture when ) I thought about my heritage and backround and how flags become great symbols to some. Any way here is the photo with my thoughts.

Me encanta el movimiento de las banderas. Parece que se han quedado congeladas, no?? brutal.
