Rain (The Life and Times of Victor Jouvert)

There is something about the rain that I've always liked. During all seasons I still like it just the same. Whether it melts the winter snow, cools the sweltering summer heat, washes away autumn leaves, or quenches the thirsty spring flowers I love to watch the rain.

Here is Noah who has now been sleeping in his own crib in his own room now for a couple of weeks now. He is also weighing 12lbs and had his 2month checkup and first round of vacinations. Noah is sleeping two 4 to 5 hour shifts at night which gives us nice time to sleep.

Here is Noah and Monika getting ready to go out for a walk.

Living in New York : A New Beginning

So today I continue my photoblog. I went to a New Yorkers Photoblog meeting (at the Apple Store Soho ) because my friend Martin Fuchs was going to speak there about his two photoblogs and about his experiences as a photo journalist. There was a group of 5 speakers who are currently " photoblogging ," Afterward we went for drinks at "Merc Bar" where I met most of the speakers and got to talk to them a little bit. Any way I was inspired. Mainly because of the photobloggers that were like everyday people, not photographers, photojournalist, or professional or technical types. these were mostly just people who enjoy shooting photos. There was this guy named Boogie and I had seen his website before. His photos are really good, but I have to say that I was disappointed in what he had to say ( not much. ) Any how I got this feeling watching people show their work and talking about what motivates them, or why they do what they do. All the while I was asking myself why am I not shooting much these days, why did I stop blogging. I am working on getting another "photoblog" going that wont be ready for a couple of months or maybe for January but in the meantime I want to shoot and I want to blog too. So I decided to just keep my old photoblog going. Hope you people find it interesting, amusing, or something. For those that dont know my story, I returned in August from spending a year in Vienna, Austria with my wife who is from there. We got married, honeymooned in Spain and moved back here in August. Now with new eyes I look at my home. I see things from a different perspective. Although I am a New Yorker and Have lived here my whole life something has changed... I think its me? So my photoblog will be just about my life here in New York. Things that I think are interesting, funny, sad, amazing or just what every strikes me on a given day.

About my trip

Life is amazing and you never know where it will take you. You have to be open to see it and live it to the most. I say this because the reason I have arrived in Vienna is because I met and fell in love with an amazing woman, Monika. We both fell in love right from that first night and after 6 months together in New York Monika had to come back to Vienna. Well after just a few months of us doing the long distance relationship a plan began to form in my mind and before you know it things started falling into place. We got engaged on our 1st anniversary February 20th, 2005 and now I am here in Vienna. I have visited Vienna or as it should be called Wien 3 times before this trip and I look forward to developing the relationships I have started as well as experiencing life on an everyday basis. I will be taking German courses, working on my photography, getting to know Vienna better as well as the people I've met before and of course spending time with Monika and further developing our relationship. We arrived yesterday from New York where we had spent the last month packing up our New York apartment as well as the things we wanted to bring here. We were exhausted to say the least but Monika's family are great and her dad and mom and her brother and his wife were all there at the airport to give us a ride home with all our bags, we went to lunch in a nice garden restaurant, then we came home to get started with unpacking and rearranging
